So I picked up some looney jigs yesterday. I got a white one and a chatreuse one. I heard about them on the forum and decided to pick some up myself. What is the most productive way to fish these?

go to the end and watch Tater, if he is throwing a jig
I found fast erratic works good, also when they are striking on top, burning it on the surface ....if I let it fall with to much slack line that is when I would get cut off the most, sometimes it would get hit the minute it hit the surface sometimes far out and sometimes real close....watch....the fish will let you know if you pay attention .....I used 50lb leader line
Yes, by all means add a foot to foot and a half of 40-50# clear mono or you will need to buy more very quickly ;-)

IMHO they are most effective by letting them sink to the bottom and doing a quick jig routine up near the surface where you can see it.
Often a pause at this time will get a strike.
If not, open the bail and let it sink and repeat until it does ;-)
Another tip to add longevity to the jigs is to put a few drops of 5 minute epoxy on the threads of the jigs to help stave off those mackerel teeth and keep the 'hair' on longer.
I used a little super glue and then a few coating of clear finger tail polish to finish them off(threads), but that is when I am making my own, I would loose them before any other issues occurred....but then I come with plenty and 15 cents a piece, it doesn't hurt as bad when lost
.last years assortment
I may have to paint some more pink ones....I think I sent all I had in the last thank you care package .....got plenty of white, chartreuse painted
and mostly 3/4 oz this year, I found they had the best fall rate for the line I was using, 1/2 would mostly be good with slightly lighter line
