You can always catch fish on the beach, it's just a matter of what fish and how many.
Usually your catching will be limited by the amount of time you fish. I've had luck in the dog days of summer and supposedly fall is even better.
Ask more specific questions and I am sure some of the experienced folks will chime in. Also, look for previous reports from the area you will visit in the search bar. Excellent info on this site.
The fishing should just be beginning to heat up as the water is just beginning to cool off.
Whiting, pompano, redfish, ladyfish, maybe a flounder, spec or Spanish (if they run close). Catfish if the water is cloudy.
For one of your baits try and use some live shrimp on a light/medium rig if you can, especially if you have kids or newbies with you.
I'll be down this Saturday 9/5. First time surf fishing. I bought a couple 10' surf rods and I'll also have my light action spinning rods with me. I plan to use a double dropper rig with either sand fleas or shrimp. Do you guys think the pompano will be biting? What other species would I expect to catch? How is the flounder bite off the surf and what should I use to catch them? Any suggestions for my rig I plan to use? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I apologize for hi-jacking your thread TN Fisherman but I figure this would build upon your original post.
Pomps will be around but not like springtime. Look up "what's biting when" by pier#r to see which species will be around. (It's almost everything)
Where do I look this up?
