using the moon & tide chart when is the best time to fish the pier.

I've just begun to explore the possibility that there may actually be some positive correlation between the solunar tables and "good fishing".
Problem is, where and when it is relatively "good" in one spot or for one boat or angler another especially a short distance away may not enjoy or percieve the same success.
The fish don't seem to be impressed by tables or charts or predictions.
They (like successful anglers) are just taking advantage of opportunities.

I'm a big believer in the moon's influence on game/fish activity. I have always always caught more fish/taken more game the few days either side of a full moon.
I kept meticulous notes for several years in the deer stand and there is absolutely a positive correlation between deer movement and moon phase. It got to the point where I would not bother going to the woods on a new moon and would nearly hunt 5 or 6 days straight around the full based on past observations of deer movement. Just my humble opinion based on a lot of years afield and afloat.

I have never understood how it works i just fish everyday like its my last day on Earth :)

it has been my experience that game and fish are more active on a rising or falling barometer regardless of moon phase.

After painstaking research i concluded that the best time to fish the pier is when you can. Beyond that, I started keeping a Calender using the forum reports and the tide calender at outdoor alabama. So far the busiest days on the pier seem to correspond somewhat to the highest tide days. Even the time of the bite often corresponds to the time the tide turns. Many other factors seem to override tides like wind, storms, turbidity, temperature, etc. They say a lot on here, you never know until you go.

Actually, my experience is that the best time is normally yesterday, or any other day I wasn't able to make it down!
Other than that, like noted, fish when you can, and call in sick the other days and fish even when you shouldnt.

Don't disagree that they move/feed on a falling barometer but changes in the barometer are related to changes in the weather which may or may not occur as predicted. Not sure I want to be around if the lunar phases don't happen. :o
