Dauphin Island Trip
Just got back from my first visit to Dauphin Island - had a great time and did a lot of fishing. Caught some really nice drum (red fish), tons of catfish, trout, and a ladyfish while I was there. While I was at the west end I hooked into something three times that nearly spooled a Daiwa Saltist BG40. It stripped off nearly 200 yards of line before it broke me off. It kept breaking where my 50lb shock leader was tied to my 20lb main line. I feel like it was probably a large sting ray but who knows.
Here are some of the drum - all of these were caught with a 7' MH BPS Carbonlite paired to a Penn Battle II 2500 spooled with 15lb braid.
