No, this isn't a prank.
Branden Collier of Irvington really did catch the pending Alabama state record sheepshead on April Fool's Day.
"That really was the funny thing about it," he said. "Who would have thought it?"
The fish was officially weighed at 13 pounds, 9 ounces by Marine Resources Division personnel at their Dauphin Island office.
It was kept on ice overnight before being put on the scale, and probably lost a few ounces of water weight alone.
The fish measured 22.6 inches long and had an even more impressive stomach girth of 24.5 inches.
