New from St. Lou...don't hold that against me

Howdy from just outside of St. Louis. Heading down to Ft. Morgan on 4-4 thru 11 and staying off Pizzaro Ave. 2 families with 2 daughters each for Spring break.

We come to the Gulf each Spring and started out 10 years ago in GS then went to Destin for a few years and finally fell in love with SGI for the past couple of years. needed a change and came back to Ft. Morgan.

We just surf fish for whatever...typically catch a few Pomps, Reds, whiting and skates and a ton of blacktips. We don't comb the beaches much so we just set up where the family will be.


never fished that area....any advice. Hopefully the water temp will be up in the next two weeks.

You'll find much the same there. If you get bored with that the five mile trip to the Fort will put you in prime redfish water. There is an abandoned road just short of the Fort gate that will get you near the beach, but don't get off the pavement without a 4wd. Not as many reds there as on the point, but less of a walk. If you want to wade fish try Navy Cove just to your NW.

Places on the west end to get bait and tackle. If I'm in gulf shores I'll hit j and M....but I'm not big on tourist type things and plan on staying out west as much as possible.
Dive restaurants with good local sea food and cold beer...not worried about nice...prefer local establishments
Good place to buy local seafood...I love to grill out as much as I can and cook for the entire crew.

Remember trying to stay out on the west side.

i can always recommend Billy's Seafood for fresh seafood... i don't know much about what is out in Ft Morgan area though... Billy's is in Bon Secour and plenty of signs on how to get there...

Isn't that over by the tin top place...I think I went to him to get royal reds one year...he was into a little bit of everything...I think he had a molasses press.

The Fort Morgan Marina (nest to Tacky Jacks') may have live shrimp by now.
The pier on the northeast side of the marina is a good fishing option on days when the wind is anything but north.

What house are you staying at off pizzarro ave. And where are you from outside of st louis. Rafters is a good place for pub food. Sassy bass right behind where you are staying isnt bad either. Pappas is a fun place for a cold beer. The best part about gulf shores is that most seafood places are locally own or local chains and since I cant get good seafood here I dont have any complaints about any of them. I will tell you this you dont go to lulus are the hangout for the seafood. For the kids yes but not for the seafood. Mikees, docs, the shrimp basket and the oyster house to name a few that cater towards seafood. There are tons more. I almost forgot florabamas for a cold brew is also a good place. Its a bit of a drive but you should entertained..
