Gafs and nets are allowed at the pier but most people will help you
There aren't any 'community or pier property' gaffs/nets.
People targeting larger species, generally have one or the other or both, and if you ask nicely they may help you or let you use theirs.
There is usually both available from fellow fisherman. Some will let you use theirs and some will do the netting for you. If you're polite, most will not have a problem with it. The folks at the gulf shores pier are the best I've found along the whole coast. With that said, recently all nets were busy at the same time and you would have to wait. It also depends on the time of day. Sometimes are busier than others and sometimes a net may not be available. When needed, a gaff works the same way. Some are particular on letting someone else use their gear but usually willing to gaff it for you. Have fun and good fishing!

If someone lets you use a gaff DO NOT slam it on the deck
And also DO NOT grab a net or gaff that isn't yours without asking..

 that is hilarious :headbang:
Haha there's also a life ring available in case peaches tosses you over the rail. JK, as long as your polite most people will help you out. Don't come begging for a net if you catch a ray and everyone is busy. There not worth netting, and its better just to pop them off. Same with sharks, catfish, remoras, and sometimes bluefish. We don't net or gaff trash fish.
??? Does a 5# remora on 4# mono rate as 'trash fish'? :-[
LOL!
