[size=12pt][font=comic sans ms]Are they actually working on the seawall and parking area?
I haven’t been over there since the Hurricane.
i knew about the repairs did not know the restraunt thing though thanks
[size=12pt][font=comic sans ms]We went to Cobalt’s for brunch today and I took a look at the parking lot repairs. I can’t see any progress since they put up the fence.
Now there are a couple orange and white blockades with a Do Not Enter sign at the south corner of the lot where the construction property meets the seawall.
I’m guessing restaurant too on the construction site, right where the last one was.
And btw, the brunch buffet at Cobalt's is really good!
???
You mean there is no longer public access to the west seawall?
Didn't see any access from that lot last time I was down there David. You can still get to it though if you hike from somewhere on the west side of it, so it appeared. (There was one guy fishing there.)
In early August I fished next to the fenced in area on the inside of the bridge and caught spanish mackerel and blue fish. Went for flounder but did not succeed. While there I saw a couple of guys with clip boards walking around making notes. Being the nosy person that I am I asked if they were construction people. Reply = No. They were engineers making notes about what would be required to properly rebuild the seawall. They said the original job was not done right and used metal walls that had rusted thorough and left holes for wave wash to undermine the asphalt surface. They said it was going to be pretty expensive to repair correctly and had no idea when money might be allocated for the project. There were a couple of mullet guys throwing nets and they had some success.
I guess "repairing" was not quite the right word. I dont think they have found the money yet and given the budget climate, dont know when they will unless some "emergency" funds come down from the feds.
David, I stopped there last saturday. There is an opening to the seawall at the end of the parking lot without getting on the private property. There was no sign prohibiting access. There was also a place when you went under the bridge. Water was running like a river. I got no bites but didn't know what I was doing either. Someone was fishing past the corner to the west. Don't know how he got there.
