Penn 706?

I agree with Sand Flea, we need more posts to read since the fishing (catching) sucks right now. So riddle me this : What is so special about the Penn 706? Seems all the serious pier fishers have them or prefer them over any other reel. Forgive my ignorance of the 706, I don't own any Penn reels...................yet.

I can't speak for the 706, but I personally love my Penn 6500 SSv. It has been the best king reel I have had.

there dependable and tough reels and i like a manual bail for live bait fishing especially snobbling and manual bails don't snap lures off. it has lots of line capacity and will handle anything on the pier

They are just :cool::cool::cool:. Along with the old mitchells. Ive fished a couple 302's for 15+ years,and got my first 706 a few years back . Once you get the hang of the pum it has a lot more flexibility when working baits . I live bait most of the time and when you feed the king it just works alot better for me than a bail type reel where you have to leave the bail open to feed it and try to close it and set hook or do what i did is run a light drag and tighten up on it after he strikes.

That's easy, its that cool grinding noise the rollers make. It is the sounds of king fishing the pier...
