Even though most of the fishing area is fenced off now, is it still a decent place to fish down on the right side where there is still fishing access? Also, would it be better to fish there in the early morning, late afternoon or night and what might I expect to catch there other than these no good catfish? I have been fishing at night on Canal road from the bank near Orange beach and it is nothing but a catfish fest there.

Dave, there are a LOT of rocks along that stretch of seawall still open in front of the wooden fence.
When you get down in front of the first house the rocks are mostly covered by sand but there are still a few snags.
At the right time, with the right tackle, bait and presentation you might catch some nice fish there.
otherwise it is hit-or-miss (mostly miss).
The pass has a LOT of boat traffic this time of year and that tends to hinder the fishing during the day.
There are options on the east side too, mostly bluefish and ladyfish, but some spanish, pompano and redfish are possible.

[/quote]The side opposite of the side to which you refer in this thread, which is the West side.
Ummm yeah the east jetty basically, Florida Point it's called.
There's paved parking, a bathhouse and a long boardwalk almost down to the beach.
It offers surf casting, jetty fishing and wade fishing in a smaller area but with fewer people than the west side (Alabama Point).
