    Only thing is the Gulf is actually quite some distance from an ocean....

    A "gulf" is a "sea" really, an extension of the ocean ;-)
    Simple Definition of gulf


    • : a large area of ocean that is partly surrounded by land
    • : a difference between two people, groups, or things
    We fish the gulf together, though there be a gulf between us ;-)
