Noticed that the Navarre Pier cam is back up and running with great views and defenition. Sure wish we could get a cam like that at GSPP. Wonder if there would be any interest in trying to install one at GSPP?
i think I would be willing to donate a few bucks to this idea. The problem would probably be the State of Alabama I suppose. I have zero experience with webcams though....

That's what it cost when we looked into it several years ago.
The interest is definitely there, but the funding would be a challenge.
Carazy thing is the state ALREADY has cam feeds all over the pier (look at the TV screen upper left next time at the pay window).
Don't know why they don't offer that feed for a viewing price?
Maybe they don't want folks to know 'Big Brother' is watching ;-)
I've been trying for over 3 years to get the Park to take over the one on the pier house to no avail. It's owned by an individual that doesn't seem to care if it works or not. Shame that I have to go to the Sea & Suds camera to get a view of the pier and what the water looks like.
I hear you guys. Should have figured that someone has already been down this rabbit trail before me. Anybody know who this individual is that owns those cams? I would think if bamabeach cams could include a pier cam on their site, their advertisers would be very happy. Thanks for the comments.
I think that you can do a "whois" search on the website to see who owns it. If it has already been established that he doesn't want to be bothered with it any further, I'm not sure if there's a point in pursuing it with him. It would definitely be great to have a camera out on the OCTI, if someone else wants to put one out there!Quote:

At one time a person not to be mentioned as to cause him all the headaches of people asking him about it told me that the owner had a replacement camera but it cost $1200 dollars to change it out. I have continued to push for the Park to take it over but when your spending Millions on a conference center a couple thousand for a camera it out of the budget range.
I have to get my salt water fishing fix via the internet since I only travel to Gulf Shores twice a year. I have watched every youtube video even remotely associated with the pier, I have read every fishing report recorded in the history of this forum, so to say I would LOVE access to live video of the octi, or other pier areas available 24-7, would be a huge understatement. Its subscription service worthy if you ask me, which you didn't:congratulatory: but theres my 2 cents worth.
Hmm, you know, that's something to think about. I like Striperlover' idea too....
