Kings and Spanish macs should be thick by then. Bull Redfish might show up too..
Whiting & pompano in the shallows.
yea spanish and kings throughout the day bull reds show up in huge schools before dark sometimes. when there schooling they will eat anything you could throw a bannana out there and snobble it and i gurantee you catch one. flounder should be in good numbers.blues are always there if you dont know how to prepare it dont keep it but they are great fun still to catch. jacks also show up with the reds if you hook into one of them you better have alot of line on your reel and know how to work a drag. bobos (bonita) should also show up around the pier in schools too. if you have any questions about rod n reels and tackle just go to j&m they will help you with everything.
Great Tips, Thanks y'all.
Here is a tip that should produce dividends at that time. Be sure to be on the pier for what my son and I coined, "The Magical Hour". What is "The Magical Hour"? Well there are two of them each day or at least the potential and it is 30 minutes before or after sunrise or sunset. If you catch it right you'll understand what I'm talking about. On weekends, holidays or both the pier gets crowded fast and getting there early is a plus. Being in place for the dawn MH will get you there early enough.
Go to J&M and geta bait ribbon net and a few king rigs ..and a few bubble rigs for spanish. Fish the end for kings. Follow your bait around the rail, go over or under the guy next to you to avoid tangles. Keep your gear behind the red line and don't walk behind someone who is casting. Fish the middle of the pier for the spanish just past the sandbar. Watch how the other guys a re working their lures or baits.
Kingkiller, you are one astronomically intelligent young man on the ways of pier fishing!
Were you like, born on the pier? I have friends with a 7 year old who won't be at the head
of the line for "Student of the Year" but can blow a duck call like the Duck Commander!!!
I enjoy helping people who are willing to learn. I don't know a whole lot, but I'm willing to share what I've learned from making lots of mistakes.
A young man who's dad is my 3rd cousin (family reunion once a year close) graduated in 2011 with my youngest son. He also was not a strong student (although very smart). He is 21 now and is a full time guide in the marshes in S LA making a WHOLE BUNCH of money callin' dem duks.
But we make them together George!!! :D
That's how I've caught all my king, I remember one day I was at the pier snobbling and wasn't catching a thing! but I opened my ears to my dear friend Tom Stanzac, he told me how to rig a live bait properly, first cast, bout 30 seconds after I through it out, 27lb king
