Pier Fishing in September

We will be coming to GSP the second part of September for a week.

Would like to try fishing from the pier after getting a guide lesson.

What can I expect to have the best chance of catching at that time?

Mainly interested in fish for the table, so would appreciate advice on species, bait, and what part of the pier to fish.
