325 yds17# to 300yds 20# mono on a 706
I use 15# mono on my king rods.
I just had 20 # high visibility mono put on mine reel. That way me and others can see that ugly orange line. My 2 cents
Cool, thanks everybody, I appreciate it.
I keep a few older Penn 4/0 6/0 around to use as a slave reel to transfer line to or swap ends of it to extend useful life of the line.
If you have a reel laying around you could use it to keep that 50lb on till you have a need for it.
Are any of the J&M rods 2 piece?
All of my Rods are 2 piece and are budget friendly, Amozon and EBay (ect.). I usually have several people that go with me, the reason for so many.
My setup now:
Cobia, King, Bull Reds
2-8' Tsunami Airwave MH SR with Penn Fierce II 6000 15lb Mono
1-7.6' Ugly Stik GX-2 M SR with Penn Battle II 5000 20lb Braid
Flounder, Reds
1-6.6' Ugly Stik GX-2 M SR with Penn Fierce II 5000 20lb Braid
1-6.6' Berkley Amp M SR with Penn Fierce II 4000 20lb Braid
Spanish
3-7' Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 M SR with Penn Battle II 3000 20lb Braid
Pompano, Ground Mullet, Speck
2-6.6' Abu Garcia Vengeance ML SR with Penn Battle II 2000 6lb Fluoro
Backup, Bait Sabiki and Ribbon
1-6.6' Ugly Stik GX-2 M SR with Penn Pursuit II 5000 15lb Mono
1-6.6' Berkley Amp M SR with Penn Pursuit II 4000 10lb Mono
2-8' Ugly Stik Catfish MH SR with Penn Spinfisher V 8500 20lb Mono
I've had the centers come out of the Berkley Amps and they was replaced for free. That's why I changed my Spanish set ups to the Abu Garcia rods and have not had a problem with them. Just don't use the Berkley Amps to throw a lot of lures. The Tsunami Airwaves have been great so far, time will tell. The Ugly Stik's are the toughest just don't have that feel and are a little heavy.
