Thread: New to the Forum.

Hiya guys and gals, new here but have fished from the pier many times. Never came down and fished in late June though. How is the bite generally? Ill be there from the 26th-30th. Will be fishing at night aswell as during the morning to mid day time. What is generally biting best during this time of year. I do enjoy throwing spoons and gotcha lures. Also like floating LY.

Also ive heard mixed comments about catching sharks from the pier. Is it or isnt it allowed.

You can catch sharks but you can't land them.

Generally, late June will feature the fish that are "in" now, spanish, kings, jacks (caught in deeper water), as well as reds, whiting, speckled trout, flounder (usually caught closer to the surf) -- you can expect to have a chance at them as long as those summer squalls don't stir the water up too badly. Sometimes in addition to ladyfish and bluefish, you can get your line stretched a bit by sailcats - lots of fun on light tackle when you're trying for whiting.

At night, I'm fishing around lights for speckled trout and the occasional redfish and flounder.

On many occasions, you can't help but to hook up with a shark. You just can't bring him over the rail, due to pier rules.

Also, late June usually features intermittent schools of tarpon migrating by from east to west.
