What is your definition of a pretty stiff rod?
well its a rainshadow 9ft rx7 graphite and id say its a heavy action
Which rainshadow? 1088 or 1089? Either way, your arm should act as a sort of shock absorber when fighting a fish. Fish runs, you should give a little and when they stop put pressure on them.
1089 and oh ok thanks. So you think 16lb hi catch should be ok or should i go with 20?
Man the 1089 is a beast of a rod. I personally wouldn't fish anything smaller than 25lb test on it. It's way overkill for kings and you will destroy every bait thrown with it, and it going to take a big jig to load that blank up for casting.
After buying one of Jeb's high quality ling rods, I'd say listen to him carefully on proper selection--he knowss his stuff.
To answer your question, it will stress lighter lines. To use a heavy pole with light line, you almost have to fish with the pole straight out. A rod with a proper curviture makes a great difference in playing fish on light lines.
well dang... theres a 100 dollars wasted. well thanks for the info
Not wasted....just build a beast of a Ling Rod....If you build it...It will FISH...;)
haha i think ill just have to do that!
