Red Trebles
I've read a lot of reviews for the size, color and strength trebles you guys use for kings and I never see anything about red ones. When I lived in south florida I only used red hooks for freelining live baits for snook, macks and kings. Now that I live in Ar I use red hooks for crappie and bass. I've used other colors and actually see a difference in the amount of fish caught on red compared to others. I was just curious if there is a reason no one uses red trebles for kings or if it just not mentioned?

Re: Red Trebles
I've never used them, but I've seen others use them. Personally, I care more about the strength of the hook than the color.

Re: Red Trebles
Ive used both red hooks and leader with good results, cant say they worked any better or worse but the fish didnt shy away from them.

Re: Red Trebles
I used some red "J" hooks for a while fishing the small LY's for spanish. I couldn't tell that I got bit any more often than anybody else did. But my pretty red hook sure did shine down in the water.

Re: Red Trebles
I think the reason people don't use them is because most of them are only available in small packs and that can get costly at $3 for five hooks compared to $8 for thirty Eagle Claw 934BLP#2's.

Re: Red Trebles
I had a long convo with a friend of mine in wal-mart one night on that very subject. I had run low on trebles and needed some right away! Got there and the only one they had left where red, well with hesitation I went ahead and bought them, next morning I caught two Kings within a matter of minutes, I guess thay work alright : ). Now I will use them as quick as any.

Re: Red Trebles
never tryed them, bronze mustad has always been my choice, they will rust out of a fish's mouth if he breaks you off, that way you dont kill him

Re: Red Trebles
I can see where the price factor can come into play if you are losing rigs. That didn't even cross my mind. Thanks for all the info. Ill be bring both red and bronze with me in May.

[font=comic sans ms][size=12pt]I bought some just to try, and I can’t see any perceivable difference between them and bronze or black trebles. Of course, my test doesn’t have as many data points as someone’s who catches a lot of fish.
Some people swear by the red hooK and won’t use anything else.
I’m still searching for magic hooks that catch every cast. Or maybe it’s all in the “THE HAT” :o
