Rental rods?
I'm bringing the family down next week, and we have a charter booked for one day, but I also want to get my son out on the pier a couple of times. Saltwater fishing is about his favorite thing, and we only get to do it rarely.
I see that there are rod rentals available at the pier, and I'm just wondering if those are good enough to get us through for an afternoon or two. Most of my rods are one-pieces and a little tough to pack in the car with the other luggage for a week-long trip. Thanks for any advice.

They will be perfect for bottom fishing from the T to the beach.

Might want to bring along some terminal tackle, size 2 & 4 baitholder hooks, small black swivels, some 12# mono for leaders, split shot and 1/4, 1/2 & 1 oz egg sinkers.
That way you can make your owner Carolina rigs. Get some fresh shrimp and use small pieces for bait.
Also, pick up some bubble rigs, most kids love fishing bubble rigs.

Make sure the reels have plenty of line on them. You know how rented equipment is treated, so look over the selection and pick the best.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't fished a bubble rig before, so it looks like I've got a little research to do.

Fill then half full of water, sling it as far as you can and reel like hell!
