That would be Davis Allison . He is often on the pier and makes them on site . I'm thinking he charges $8 each ?
Most people like the red ribbon ,but Ironman Bill, prefers Halloween orange ! HA ! (NOT)
they all work (colors) I have seen black do well, but not from David and orange isn't my preferred color Mr. USA..... haha :D
I expect David would put in what ever color you asked him to.
They are worth every penny. Watched him make me one 2 summers back. Quite a craftsman.
I'm intrigued what is a ribbon net?
Where can you get one if Mr Allison is not on pier
J&M (or Walmart) Pier Bait Shop probably has them too.
the pier bait shops are amost big enough to make 2 out of it, But David's are truly the best, he takes great pride in making them so they hang right and balanced and has multiple sizes of netting for those smaller ly's that some other netting won't catch(to big or to small) he has it down to a science
I have several that I made years ago, using leader wire or heavy mono. Slip a crimp sleeve over the line, then make a figure 8, making a loop with the ends of the line and inserting into the sleeve. Crimp the sleeve and make another figure 8 with more line, making sure to thread it through one of the loops that you made in the 1st step. Continue this until it's as long as you want it. Once it's as long as you want, thread the ribbon through the loops and tie off at the top and bottom. Add a weight to the bottom and a swivel to the top and your ready to go. I made several in different lengths and loop sizes for the different bait sizes.
i have to agree with the people here, David makes the best nets. I use to have two of them a smaller one and a slightly larger one till I forgot to put my tackle bag on my truck, after a 15 hour marathon on the pier last may, I hope whoever found it gets as much use out of it as I did, guess I,ll be looking david up to get two more. you can buy other ribbons elsewhere but they want last as long as davids from my experience.
J&M has them in 2 sizes.
I will be on the pier Monday and would like to get a couple ribbon rigs. Anyone know how to contact David?
I'd suggest starting with Facebook.
