September Fishing
I’m very familiar with fishing the area but I am going to arrive at a time of the year I have not experienced before. We are coming the 2nd week of September and would love any info on fishing from the pier and surf fishing during that time. Thanks in advance.

Couple of minor considerations---Hurricane Fredrick, 9/12; Hurricane Ivan, 9/14; Hurricane Katrina 9/16 (I think). Fishing can be fine, but keep one eye peeled to the south.
Hemingway said something to effect that September was when the great fish and the great storms come.

September is a really good time to fish. You can load the cooler with multiple species.

Mr Wire, those lil ole storms were just 'minor inconveniences'
;-) lol
Just about any fishes can be caught that month (except maybe sheepshead ;-)

I will be down in May and also the 3rd week in Sept. All the above are true and honest, as fishermen can be. "Hogman" is the god of September fishing. Would be a great source of info.

Pier#r---I was understating, as I'm sure you're aware. Fredrick taught me that there's not a single thing I'm going to "Take care of" when the storm hits. All you can do is hunker down and wish you were somewhere else. By the time the authorities tell everybody to evacuate now, they're talking to my backside. I was north of here when the others came through but the aftermath of Ivan like to have worked me to death.
