Hope we get to see some pictures of the wound, and find out what kind it was, if its true. There are so many sharks, and so many tourists it just seems like its bound to happen at some point. Its amazing there are not a lot more with the number of bull sharks in our waters. Its probably lucky that during the busiest time of the year, most of the larger sharks stay in the deeper, cooler water.
The guy bit in 2000, seems to be one of the only reported severe attacks I've ever found here.

I want to start doing some spearfishing this year, should be interesting to see how many are really out there that we don't see.

The water was EXTREMELY dingy along the shore this week and there have been some mullet schools moving through it.
That is not a good combination when a shark is cruising close to the beach.
There are a LOT of juvenile sharks now (2'-3' long) that could rip some skin like what the article described.
I'm still more afraid of stingrays than anything else! :o
