Pompano
Surf fished this weekend and caught a lot of juvenile pompano (most were 4 in or so). And no keepers I'm relatively new to pompano fishing do the adults not run the same areas as the juveniles?

Hey, I-tide. Year before last we caught little pompano every day at Ft. Morgan. Everyone just about was catching them, and I told folks what they were. They were actually juvenile cravalle, a fact I learned later. I'm hoping that you are not one of those folks with whom I shared, ahem, my knowledge. I guess baby jacks kinda resemble each other. A pic would help. Wish I knew the answer to your year class question, that is a good question.

No they were definitely pomps. A jack has a boney lateral line just in front of there tail, even the juveniles I've caught them before as well.
