Sheepshead
We are going to the pier tomorrow morning and never having fished for sheepshead before I was wondering what kind of rig to use for them? Also what part of the pier should I start at because I have read reports of them being all over the pier? Lastly, should I use whole live shrimp or little bits of shrimp for bait? Thanks.

Do a quick search, lots of answers out there. But I will repeat:
Carolina rig, 7' M-MH rod wit backbone, 10-12# mainline, 10-12# leader (flouro if you have it), sinker size depends on current, from 1/4oz to 3oz.
Small hooks, I use #4 baitholders, lots of guys like #10 3x trebles or #6 kahle.
Small live shrimp, fiddler crabs, ghost crabs or hermit crabs. Fresh shrimp chunks might work if its a chew down bite.
Fish where the fish are, you should be able to see the schools.

Fisherman102:
Check with those that are fishing the pier. Most will be willing to help out. I'll be fishing on the Octi. I'll be the one with the green "Fishntime" flag and would be more than glad to show you what to do. This is the most friendly pier on the gulf so you shouldn't have any trouble.
good fishing...
