Not!
But it is very curious to see coastal water temps near 70 degrees at the end of December...

Slim might even catch that rarer-than-rare "Christmas king" ;-)

Looks like I'm not going to have to cut firewood for next year, or clean the chimney.
Water temp in our area is normally the center of our normal Highs & lows. 80 in the days & 60 at night Equals a 70 degree water temp over a month average or so. Wait a week. It will drop . What's the coldest water temp you've seen on our gulf beaches? I've seen 49 degree's. Don't throw away the fire wood just yet. Winter just officially started.
Yep the pattern can change with a single wave of the jet stream. And I wish it would!
As long as the eastern Pacific is warm (ENSO / El Nino) a single wave is not likely to do it. If you look at the satellite imagery there is a pretty constant stream of warm moist air coming our way from there.
GOES Northern Hemisphere Composite, Water Vapor - NOAA GOES Geostationary Satellite Server
Eventually the ENSO will oscillate back to "normal", the El Nino will dissipate as the westerlies re-establish, but until then the moisture from the Eastern Pacific dominates.

The forecast is that the ENSO has peaked.

Enjoy it while it's here.....I am.....except for the extra care needed for the deer
The cold is on it's way
I hope to convert the back 3ft of an overseas container for hanging deer (refrigerated ) for warm periods like we are having even up north......the big coolers work ok, but only have 2 of those
