Re: State records
Years ago on the old pier i had a couple of monster reds get me in the pilings trying to net. I think they wer probably in the 30 plus pound range. IT probably didnt help trying to bring them in green either but you live and learn. I messed up the drag too on a couple of my older mitchell reels .I did just get one this year 20 plus but looked a lot bigger .

Re: State records
If only the fish were really as big as they look before they are netted and decked. Some fish seem to lose at least 10lbs between the water and the planks.

Re: State records
I think specks and spanish are the worst for doing that.
A 4#r looks like a 'contenda' down in the water, but it shrinks in the net.
Keep in mind the 30" diameter of the typical hoop net and at least you get a 'feel' for the size of the fish going into it.
I heard everybody went NUTZ when Trish hooked that pompano and realized it was (by far) the biggest any of them had ever seen! :o 8)
