Naw, no sabiki, he had to have snagged it using a Boca Grande jig.

Thats great and all....... but..... I hate seeing a massive beast like that dead.. (no i dont hug or do other things to trees). I have never undstood taking somethings
life without being able to use the animal in some way(unless its a venomous snake next to the house) .
Tarpon is pretty useless, other than a awesome fight, or using its scales for windchimes.

The article linked above says they used a trolled Coon Pop jig. Circle hook, but the weighted part is on the shank and not the bottom of the curve. I know people say that the circle hook bottom weighted can be used to snag tarpon. I can't argue from experience, but that just seems odd to me.

I still haven't had the chance to hook up with a silver king and not sure how I would react if I hooked one that big.

This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for an abundant fishery and a magnificent pier, from which to access that fishery. I'm thankful for the morning view of the sunrise and what a spectacular view it is...
Happy Thanksgiving!
