Catch em quick boys! Karen's coming to visit!
Just curious. How is the fishing after a storm like this?
depends on if the rails and planks are still there.
It's gonna be one wet weekend on the boo boo bus
Gonna be a windy rainy weekend.
True dat Carl.
TS Karen has slowed down, and it may well be Sunday pm before it comes ashore.

And the coastal marine forecast predicts higher waves (in the range that could damage the pier)
At least it is still predicted to move through relatively quickly and the seas should calm in a day or two post storm...Quote:

HURRICANE PARTY! lol
I know this might be a stupid question, will the storm shut down the pier? And if it does, what's the time length on it normally re-opening.
This is on the State Park fb page:
"Weather update: As of 10:00am on Friday October 4, 2013 all facilities at Gulf State Park-Alabama are still open. The Gulf waters are closed for swimming, but all facilities remain open."
Now that 'Karen' has been "EXPOSED"...

it appears the (non) decision to prepare for it (at the pier) was the correct one.
Still Sunday into Sunday night looks to be the roughest water in a while...

IMHO the pier 'dodged a bullet' this go-round :-)
Noon update:
NHC reports the convection has 'refired' near the center of circulation of TS Karen.
This should help it maintain minimal TS status as it makes for landfall somewhere in SE Louisiana overnight then skirts the AL coast Sunday as a tropical depression.
Look for the gustiest winds in those squalls east of the center...
