Comparison of 2014 water temp and 2013
Last year I started charting the temps when they started getting warm, FWIW here is a chart now that we are starting to overlap with the data I saved. Looks like we are several degrees cooler right now. WELL... I did that wrong as far as posting the pic, have to see if I can figure out how to get a smaller file.
People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

I suspect if ran a little ANOVA on that, the difference would be significant at the .05 level of confidence and maybe at the .01 level.
Just thought I'd make everyone's day a tad bit more surreal.
Screw it. Let's ride.

Actually we may not be all that far off from the average water temps for this time of year.
There are some decent sites and graphics available (and some 'crappy' ones too ;-(
but here's some of the more pertinent ones IMHO...
Pensacola beach Water Temperature (Sea) and Wetsuit Guide (Florida - Gulf, USA)
*Compare to Dauphin Island water temp of about 50 degrees and Perdido Pass water temp of about 55 degrees.Today's Pensacola beach sea temperature is 65 °F.
Statistics for 12 Feb (1981–2005) – mean: 18.0 °C, range: 16.1 °C to 20.1 °C

Hope this helps!
BTW, the extended weather outlook for next week calls for (air temp) highs around 70 Sun-Tue,
and the long range forecasts for the rest of the year call for above average (air) temps...

Yep, that is a good trend to see!
Remind me, at what temp do the Spanish macs tend to show up and stay?Carl

... about 65 degrees.
The old tymers used to say the spanish show up after three foggy days in a row.
We are close to that this week ;-)
