Sufix Tritanium line review
I meant to post a review of this stuff after using it last year, but completely forgot. In preparing to come down at the end of next week, I was reminded while looking at a spool of it the other day...
I've been really impressed by this line for striking a balance between braid and mono - it's quite strong and durable, but it only has about half the stretch of mono. The sensitivity was quite good. Last year, my buddy and I spooled our two spinning rods with it, and even though we were fishing on a really windy day, we still got good feedback from the LYs from line vibration. I never got hooked up on a king with it, but it held tough through a redfish, a mid-sized stingray, and a 3-4 foot shark. I had no break-offs from abrasion-related failures.
The line was better than mono for casting, but not quite as good as some other "superline" options out there (nowhere near Berkley Nanofil, for example). The trade-off seemed to be that the line resisted damage better than average, and I saw almost zero nicks on the line after a morning of fishing. I put a top shot of it on my surf rod, and found that it worked really well there as well. In both pier and surf fishing, I was using either fluorocarbon or wire leader (the line itself was bright green, but other options are available).
That said, if you have an extra $10-15 to spend on a spool of line to upgrade over plain mono, this stuff might be worth consideration for areas where you plan to fish around structure. Supposedly there is a "Tritanium Plus" option on the market now, but I'm not sure what differences exist.
Being from Memphis, I bought mine on Amazon to spool up my reels with. Not sure if it is sold locally in the stores around the GS/OB area or not.
