See you next Sat.
If anyone else wants to come in and see how easy it is to build a rod, be at J&M a little after 5am this Saturday.
How about one of you awesome locals video and post so us poor northerners can see this. I'd love to watch! Awesome opportunity.
I would love to be there. I'm 1100 miles north with 2 feet of fresh snow! I ain't gonna make it. Thanks for the offer it would be a great learning experience . thx jjm
Man that's a good deal! If I wasn't 15hrs away I would be there. John G I may have to get with you and have you build me a couple rods.
John any chance you'd be willing to do this during the summer? I'd love to do this too.
JohnG - do you have 2pc blanks for the Travlin Man?
You have to use a one piece fiberglass blank, cut it where the under wrap will start, make a 4" tapered solid fiberglass plug with half of it glued inside the butt end then the tip end of the plug shaped on a lathe to where the tip section is about a 1/4" from jamming against the butt. I have made several 2pc rods like this including some offshore rods in the 30 and 50lb class with detachable butts (now a 3pc) for people working on oil rigs or flying to remote areas on puddle jumpers because a rod must fit into a travel bag.
