Surf Fishing & Rain

If safe (no lightning), does anyone surf fish in the rain? Does it help the fishing?

The fish dont know its raining,,they are wet already.Cloudy can be good,long as it's safe I say do it,you are wet already.,good luck!

If the water is very clear, cloud cover and wind or rain may add a sense of comfort to the fish, especially from birds above them. If they are not there or not biting, I am still surf fishing, a'int I?

I have caught more fish of any kind both fresh and saltwater in the rain A cloudy overcast day with misty rain has always been one of my favorite days to fish It's probably more prevalent in fresh water than salt because fish don't have eyelids and can't close their eyes so light is a factor That's why you always find the largemouth bass on the shady side of the stump He's trying to stay out of the glare so he can see to feed That's why early morning and late evening are usually better times to fish As long as it's safe by all means have at it in the rain The productivity may surprise you

Thanks guys. I understand the cloud cover issue with freshwater fish, but was not sure about saltwater. I did not know if it affected fish around the surf due to the waves and stirred up water. I guess if it is hot, a light rain can cool things down a bit.

Make sure you are using umbrella rigs, though, to keep the rain off the fish.:)
