Thread: 4 seasons pier question

Friend of mine stays at the four seasons and he was told that there has been a large amount of sand pushed under it and hurt the fishing. Can anyone shed some light on this. He is planning a trip and thats the only reason he stays there is to fish on that pier.

I was out in the kayak around the pier a few weeks ago and it is pretty shallow where the pier ends. I don't have a reference to how it uses to be but it doesn't get much deeper until a ways past the end of the pier.

That is not what I wanted to hear. We are coming down May 23rd for a week. So is it even worth staying at Four Seasons? Would I be better off staying somewhere else and fishing the state pier?

We'll be staying there 1st week of May. Haven't stayed there since last September, so not sure, but I can give you my take when we get back

It is a wonderful place to stay but the fishing is way off from the past. Money wise you could stay somewhere else and fish the state pier every day and go home with many more fish for the freezer (and a lot more money in your pocket.). I do enjoy the people on the four seasons pier and they are always friendly but that is mostly true for the state pier as well.

I have fished at 4 Seasons since it was built. Since the "beach restoration" started, the fishing has gotten progressively worse each year due to the shallow water. If your objective is convenience to fish some skinny water with few fish but great company, 4 Seasons can't be beat. You might catch a pompano in May, might catch a few spanish early or late IF any baitfish show up. If you want to have a MUCH better chance of angling success, fish at the State Park pier. Just my opinion based on the last few years. If you do fish there, I wish you good luck.

My family (with 2 kids) and I will be staying here in early June. We wanted to stay here because of the pier where we can fish a little more regularly. What could we expect to catch around this time? We have fished from the shore at Grand Pointe and caught cats and shark mainly. Just thought that we might have a better selection of fish if we throw out from the end of the pier. Thoughts?
