Thanks to Pier#r the "Fish Instructor"
I found it hard to get a recommendation information on a guide when we were looking for someone to give us some pointers when we were in the Gulf Coast of Alabama. We were in Fort Morgan and we found pier#r (Dave Thorton) on this site and a few others forums. David mention that he would provide a g rated experience and since I had two of my girls fishing with me this was important. Over the week leading up to the trip, David and I trade emails on what we need for our trip, where we wanted to fish and what we wanted to accomplish for the week. When we meet the day of the trip, we were able to get started quickly and David was very informative and provided guidence to both of my girls. The girls had lots of experience in freshwater shore and river fishing but I was not sure what would translate over for them and Dave was extremely patient and spent as much time as needed to help them be successful. We caught several fish, my oldest daughter caught a nice 21 redfish, our other daughter was not as succesful that day and missed serveral bites. They both had a great time and have reclassified as "The Fishing Instructor". If you asked them what they thought of this trip they said it was the best trip they had been on and they want to fish with him again the next time we are in Ft. Morgan.
The best part was they had learn a lot and they each caught fish evertime we went out on our own. I would highly recommend Dave Thorton as a shore/pier guide if you are in the area and need a guide.

Yea, in so many words Dave is a great fisherman and a good teacher that really wants you to learn how to catch fish and enjoy it. :headbang: I remember on one occasion we were fishing in the shallows where everyone knows there are no fish but on that day a few species were biting under the pier and we were tossing our bait under the pier. On the opposite side a fellow cast under and tangled his line with Dave's and began to do battle as he thought he was hooked up. Dave turned around and said very politely but with slight frustration "hey you have my line" and the guy kept pulling. Most of us would have been a little ticked off but Dave kept his cool. Just a testament to pier#r.

ccarlton, thank you for sharing your experience with the “Fish Instructor”! David is a great guy and a highly skilled fisherman who enjoys helping others succeed. Sounds like he is as good at teaching as he is at catching!
Thanks!
Take a bow #r

Gosh :-[ :D
Truely THE best aspect of my new 'hobby' is meeting great folks like the Carltons and getting to see them catch fish in our waters! :headbang:
Too many days this summer the fish were not as cooperative :( :-[
But we had a great time and these young ladies are true anglers :fishing:
Thanks for allowing me to share part of that wonderfully pleasant day and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have spent this time with you all.
