These should work..for at least 5 casts!

Found these at our local jockey lot..$2 ea! He's bringing more Saturday, if so - I will get every one he brings.
They are LARGE rattle traps that have lead added to the head for a nose down shimmy sink when jigged back after a long cast. We use them for deep water bass on points in winter, but I'm thinking they may trick a big spaniard or king cruising around the Octi.

Question : what's a "jockey lot":confused:

I was fishing off a small lighted pier at night in Cocoa Beach a few years ago. There were some Asian guys there who were absolutely wearing out Atlantic cutlassfish with small Rattle Traps. They had a 5 gallon bucket full of them. All to say, there's no telling what you could catch on Rattle Traps off the pier, provided you can keep from getting cut off or sharked. I'd go for it.

Three years ago, a fellow from Tennessee, who said he didn't know anything, wore out the flounder at Ft. Morgan with a rattle trap.

BigDuck - it's our local flea market. Years past, it was the largest in the south. A lot smaller now, and only averages a couple hundred venders and yard sellers on Saturday and Sunday.
These 'Traps are very large and to give some sense of size, the plate on the scale pictured above is 5" in diameter. I don't expect to get a flounder to hit one of these - But if I do, we can share filets.
And as I said..I have at least 5 chances to get something on the deck.

Thanks, sc. I will try them in the surf and in the bay, who knows, they may produce. There is going to a big, bright full moon while we all are there, and I may try some night fishing. Never had any luck in the surf at night, but I haven't tried fishing at night under a full moon in clear water. Wonder if anybody has any tips. (Classic thread hijack)

Scbasser you'll never know till you try. I use a 1/8 or 1/16oz feather crappie jig with 4lb line for spanish. The looks I get when I bring out my 7ft ultra light and cast that jig between all the bubbles and gotchas are priceless. Until I start catching 2/1 and 3/1 spanish. Something will hit your lures.....

I saw that Bo - and the tides will be at morning and last light every day. If the weather holds, it should be great for catching....Ill let you know tomorrow what I find. We can throw them at the sea wall till our arms fall off, or we lose them!
