I love my Battle 2000 that I bought recently. I have it on a 7ft Penn Squadron Rod and it is a beautiful match up. Have the reel loaded with 6# mono. Have been pulling up some pretty big croakers and flounder from under the octi with it. The rod can handle 1/2 oz of weight which is perfect since I also use it for looney jigs for Spanish.
Yeah, I'm itching to buy the battle II, thought about getting the 2000 or 3000. Speaking of mono, any favorites? Stren and Suffix have never worked out for me.
Would you suggest the shimano or the battle II 2000? Also what is a good brand of 6# mono for those reels?Quote:

The (budget) Shimano I meant to say is a Sienna 2500.

Most any premium grade 6# (clear) mono will be fine.
You can spend $6 to $16 on a spool.
