I use the same setup with a DOA-style shrimp and pop it every now and then.
Works well with live finger mullet too.

Live shrimp.. or fresh dead.. twitch it... or TWERK it
You guys are sure helpful to a saltwater newbie. Thanks
Pier#r,
How do those stops work on braid? Most of my spinning stuff is rigged with braid with fluro or mono leader.
Like Carl said... a keeper king will slice through.. as will a axe handle smack. But my favorite eatin size will take it all day long... They can see really well so hook placement and color is key, I had poor experience with tin colored hooks. the coffee bronze worked good. #8 or # 10 treble. Keep a eye on your leader.. replace it often
It does happen occasionally, but you gotta be mighty LUCKY!!!

I use a 4" pear float for freshwater catfishing. ( 4" Big Pear Float ) Wonder how it would work in the salt? The weighted version has a 1 oz lead built in.
For night fishing a 8" glow stik helps light it up (punch some holes with a 16d nail and it hold well) This my night time catfish catching rig.
