Vibe Kayaks Sea Ghost 130

Like to know if any of the kayak fisherman here know much about the Vibe Kayaks Sea Ghost 130? It looks like a pretty good yak and all of the reviews I've seen have been positive. I think it has a 550 pound capacity which is important to me and the price is $800 with a rudder, decent looking seat and paddle. I'm in my 50's and weigh about 250 so stability and comfort are way up the list for me. My main use would be small lakes and strip pits here in Indiana and protected waters in the GS area like Little Lagoon. The BTB stuff would be something down the road if ever, but it would be better to buy something that could handle that as well. Thanks

You are correct Fin!! I wish I was closer to GS(and a little less fluffy) because that is the best deal I've seen in quite some time. I can't believe someone local or within a half days drive hasn't been all over that like a starving dog on a gut wagon.

Travis, I have seen those online and they look like decent kayaks. But to tell you the truth, from the description of what you want to do it would be a decent kayak, but I would look into a Malibu Kayaks Stealth 12 or 14. I have the 14 and it is amazing. There is a post a made about it in this section on it. It doesn't come with a seat rudder of paddle and costs a bit more, but if you are wanting to do some BTB down the road this would be the kayak for it. It has a 550# capacity as well but at 33" wide it is one of the most stable kayaks on the market. I bought mine through Amazon and got free freight shipping and the total came to just under $1200 which for all this kayak has to offer is a great deal.

Thank you for your reply. The Stealth 14 is probably the yak I've looked at the most. I did see your post on it earlier which made me feel better about it. There are so many choices out there and my kayak knowledge could be written on a match book with a magic marker.:confused: I'm not in a huge hurry to buy one so maybe I'll hold off and think about spending a little more. I like those Hobies with the foot propulsion but wow they want a pretty penny for them. The Stealth with the livewell seems to be a real nice combination of price and features.

Hobies are nice, but they also have a high price tag like you said. After buying my Stealth the only thing that a Hobie has that interests me is the peddle drive, but the bait well and and hatch storage options/configuration on the stealth appeals to me a lot more. Also, the Hobies are heavier by about 30# on the base weight of the kayak which makes it harder to load and unload by yourself and to drag wherever you are going, especially over sand even if it is on a dolly. Just some points to look at when buying a kayak. You mentioned your age so you got to think about weight. If you have any other questions you might want answered just shoot me a pm.
