Question about old Mitchell Reels
Which would you consider better for pier fishing the Mitchell 302 or 306 and why? Thanks for the input.
God bless!

Re: Question about old Mitchell Reels
I'm no expert on the old reels, but you can use both. Usr one for the bigger species and one for smaller species.

Re: Question about old Mitchell Reels
I have an old Mitchell 306 that has not been used in several years since I rarely go after anything big anymore. Anyone have any idea what I might could sell it for? It is just collecting dust in the storeroom now.

Re: Question about old Mitchell Reels
Chef is correct in that the main difference is the sizes of these two models. However if I were to be put on the spot to chose one over the other, I would say the 302 is slightly better.
Oldfisherman, the condition and level of modification makes a huge difference in the value of your 306. I have seen stock bailed 306s sell on ebay for well under $20 shipped. On the other end, reels with croswind cams and PUM kits installed properly can fetch $50-60 from the right buyer.

This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for an abundant fishery and a magnificent pier, from which to access that fishery. I'm thankful for the morning view of the sunrise and what a spectacular view it is...
Happy Thanksgiving!
