Can someone tell me if the lagoon on the north side of the West Pass bridge is accessible from land? For that matter, what areas around the bridge and pass can be fished and what can't be? I know there is massive construction going on. Just didn't know how that has interrupted fishing. Hope to be there midweek. Thanks very much.
The only area legally accessible is the N/E beach behind/north of the construction base camp. Only access to the Gulf side is by crossing private property.
The actual area of the pass itself is marked KEEP OUT or fenced. They haven't always been working on weekends.
I have been asked to leave when taking pictures close to the pass.

My mom and I just fished there last week. There is parking and access to the pass before you go over the bridge. We fished the middle of the pass right by the dredger north of the bridge and the Redfish and flounder were on fire. The ladyfish and finger mullet were also really really thick. Wait until another north wind/cold front hits then go there at high tide and there's some mighty good fishing. I use a simple carolina rig with a 1/4 oz egg sinker and live bull minnows. You just have to pay attention to which way the dredger's pipe is because you'll get hung up if not. The only problem are there are a lot of hispanics there that most likely do not have a fishing license and keep ANYTHING and i mean ANYTHING they catch including undersize flounder and redfish. I can't imagine how many illegal fish actually come out of there everyday.Quote:

No sir I did not which probably makes me just as guilty but it was my weekend home from college and spending it with my mom. I didn't want to get involved and I personally don't really know how to go about doing it.Quote:
