Just curious what are the best ways and times (and are they catching kings now?) at the pier? If live bait, what will they take? I appreciate all the feedback.
Also, the same with Reds would be appreciated.

right now our king mackerel season has been very slow. every now and then they catch 1 or 2 early in the morning. we haven't been catching any kings throughout the day or in the afternoon like we are suppose to. normally on a good season the best time to catch a king is anytime from dusk to dawn with dusk and dawn being the prime time. any kind of live bait cigar minnow or lures work great.
now redfish sometimes (bull reds) they will be in big schools swimming together and come by the pier and will eat literally anything you throw at them I threw a 3oz weight out one time and reeled it in real fast they would eat it but of course it was hard to keep them on without a hook. so when a school come in (normally from anytime in between sunrise and late in the afternoon) you can throw anything. slot reds is any redfish in between 16 - 26 inches they are the better tasting ones to me. you can catch with live shrimp or finger mullet bull minnows ect. with a treble hook and cork or a Carolina rig. normally in the shallow water.
Thanks Kingmaster. So the kings should be here this time of year but just aren't yet? OK... Are they seeing much at the pier now beside Spanish? That seemed to be all I have seen the last two days. What else might be expected during a dusk fish. I do appreciate your time, thanks.
