whats bondo

hey i was wanting to make my own jig mold for a 2 to 21/2 oz octopus head jig mold and i saw you can use bondo. so my question is whats bondo? is it a putty and what do you have to do to make it capable of handling lead. thanks

It's a two part body filler used for automotive body repair. Get it at any auto parts store.

It is one of the major components of the body of a car I owned some time back. It had that typical redneck two-tone of Bondo and primer. There were some faint traces of the original paint job, but it was so sparse and faded, you couldn't tell what color that it had been.

if you're making jigs, I might suggest makelure.com. Alumilite makes a type of molding putty that stays somewhat flexible when it dries and can tolerate the heat of molten lead.

thanks for all the replays i think I'm gonna go pick some up and try my hand at makin a mold hopefully i don't mess up.

I believe the smallest you can get is a quart and that should be plenty.
