Why We Created the New Forum

If you are wondering why we are creating a forum, it is simply to help control our own fate as a community, nothing more. We had a great presence on the last forum, with some great online relationships, topics and reputation. In one day, that all came crashing down. By creating a forum that is specific to GSPP, we can better ensure that we do not lose everything again.

Several of us decided it was better to control our own forum. Pier#r, Finchaser, Tofer, myself, John, tater and Wetzel worked on the ins and outs for over a week to put this together. Obie did a terrific job for a few years, and put the building blocks in place. We are just taking the mantle and running with it.

Yea, I rediscovered pier fishing this year. First time on a pier in the gulf in 10 years. I turned into a yak fisherman and ave up piers. Now, I just as soon go to the GSPP than go out on my yak.

If I don't use my Yak next year, I think I will sell it.

My thanks to you guys for putting up a new forum. I really missed the old one and didn't get turned on by the replacement. Again thanks

A lot of us feel the same way Obie. You put so much into that site and we are grateful!
And we go on...
It's not unlike loosing the old piers and some of the old fishermen.
There can be 'new' things, but it'll be tough to make it 'better'.

Obie, don't be sorry, that forum gave us a way to stay in touch with far away friends and is still giving us a jump start here,

In all fairness those were caused by backup issues (growing pains).
And I hope we might avoid that by learning from each other's mistakes to make both forums even better.

Hopefully we can make this forum as big as the last. It is nice having a forum that is strictly local though really helps with buying/selling and overall more friendly since everyone who posts fishes at the same pier.
