Late August Slot Reds
It's almost time for slot reds, 16" to 26" to move in. Here's a picture from two years ago, typical of what was going on in late August two years ago:

I participated in one of those chew-downs. I mean a real deal chewdown, damn near the whole end of the Octi was bowed up on slot reds. People were netting them 2-3 at a time. I think I had a limit of reds before probably 8am. I caught all mine on a Gotcha jigging it on the bottom.

A bona-fide chewdown is a thing of beauty! And it's the stuff great memories are made of! Yeah -- I remember when jigged Gotchas were tearing up the slot reds. One day they were doing that just south of the bathrooms (where the nub is now). And we're talking GOOD slots in the 24-26 inch category. Good times!

This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for an abundant fishery and a magnificent pier, from which to access that fishery. I'm thankful for the morning view of the sunrise and what a spectacular view it is...
Happy Thanksgiving!
