Good deal on a new or used leaning post help!

Hello all:

I recently purchased a boat and am in the market for a leaning post. New or in good used shape is fine with me as long as it's a deal and it will fit. If anyone has one laying around or know of someone that has one they might be willing to get rid of, please let me know. I am in North Alabama and well, lets just say there's not that much saltwater boat stuff up this way to look at. If you don't know of one anywhere, is there any place down that way that deals with used boat stuff when they part out a boat that might have one. I'm sure there has to be some boat yards down there somewhere but I am having a hard time finding them on line. We have some up here but they just don't have saltwater boats and they don't really run a website. Figured it might be the same down there. Anyway, all help is appreciated in my quest.

Also, for those with leaning post experience so to speak, is there any particular thing about a leaning post that I should stay away from or make sure that it has. I've looked at so many on line and there are so many options. I don't need the one's with a live well since the boat has one. Back rest? Foot rest? Storage compartment? Rod holders? You get the picture? I guess what I'm asking is what do I need vs what I don't need usability wise.

The perfect place to find one could be just where you are -- from some owner who intended to haul the rig to the coast frequently but never really did. That means it sat in a barn or carport, but never saw much saltwater. Run an ad up there and you may be surprised, especially if you can "self-serve" to remove it. Ditto for boat-yards near the lakes up there -- that's where lightly-used boats end up after the estate auction. The same thing happens around here with planer board set-ups and down-riggers designed for the Great Lakes. Something valuable on the coast of Lake Michigan is hot highly sought after near St. Louis.

Definition of BOAT: Break Out Another Thousand.. You can get by without a foot rest on a low profile bench but a back rest is a must.

Good luck, have been watching CL since April, have seen exactly 1....I was the second caller, I do keep seeing an add for new leaning posts for $395.00 on CL.... may just have to check them out.
