WTB a rod/reel for my son
My boy is 14 and really starting to show interest in pier/surf fishing. He has a decent setup for surf fishing, but I would like to get him a nice classic set up for pier fishing. I am hoping someone has an old penn they are looking to get rid of. (Even if it is broken - it would be fun to help him fix it.) I am hoping to keep it under $30 for the reel and about the same for the rod and am open for suggestions on the rod (6-8 foot should suit him well).
So, basically about $30 to $60 shipped for the whole setup.
Not wanting/expecting a cobia or king setup for him, more like sheeps, flounder and pompano.
Thanks!!~xm~

Ok, found a 711z for $30. Should be good, now just need a rod to match it.

Uh-oh...
Anyone want to trade a 711z for a reel not meant for a left handed person?

Do you have a pic of it? I'm wrong handed and I'm sure I have something he could use in the garage

J&m sells a nice shimano combo, I believe it is fx-something. They are about $45. It's a great combo. I have caught everything from whiting to bull reds on it. I would highly recommend it.
