Usually the fleas are just a few inches deep.
IMHO wider is a good idea.
The V-bottom may make it a little harder to get the fleas out and some bits of shell may get wedged in there, but it ought to be OK.

just got done watching a few video's....I should have you tube it first....oh well.... I am not cutting it apart....it should work OK ....and mine is stainless not aluminum so it is heavier so far....I hope not to heavy by the time it is done....maybe something I will have to leave behind ....and borrow my next trip
I catch them with my feet called the sand flea shuffle but a rake is a lot nicer to use look for a V looking thing in the sand that's them
Are the GULP sand flees any account. Seems you could make/buy a rake for little more than the cost of a few bags but would be one less thing to have to bring. Hey, could a kid sell sand flees at the foot of the pier? The grandson is only 6 months old but needs to find work to help pay for all the fishing stuff I'll have to buy him in a few years!!!
for some reason I am getting stressed out over this....it is all framed and mesh cut....the large piece just needs tack welded that is a pain in the rear(most likely the stress part) handle fitted to the sleeve and needs welded on (handle will be removable) tomorrow might be a better day for it....
what a difference a day makes, and switching to stick from tig....and a quick dab will do-it :D....just a little trimming and maybe a top brace
done....TEE added to handle too
find a colony of them and this should yield a whole lot in one scoop http://www.gulfcoastfishingconnectio...isc/giggle.gif
Good looking rake man
Awesome!!!
pvc Tee handle added today....I am done, except for the jerky and packing....well do need to finish that last.... give away gaff too
Nice rake! You'll love the tee on the handle. I'm working out how to add one to my Fish-n-Mate rake now because it makes it so much easier when the fleas get more spread out in the winter months and you have to do a lot of raking for a day's fishing. I like the leading edge on the basket as well, should make it glide a little easier through the sand.
