Favorite size and type hook for Pompano.
Hello "fishin" Folks,
Heading down next week. I have been doing this biannually for about fours years now with the exception of the pandemic down time. GS Pier was my first experience pier fishing and I believe it to be the best. I tried another Pier over on the Panhandle last fall and it just didn't work for me. Nothing to compare with my first trip to GS Pier. You people were so nice and helpful I felt like I had discovered a very special place for an old guy on a new adventure in the last quarter of his life. The facilities there, restrooms (very important in your seventies),
the cleaning table (very important for an out of towner) are non existent on other piers. I feel very fortunate and grateful to be able to come down there.
And now for the real reason for this post!
Question: What are some of your preferred hook sizes and types (J, Kahle, etc) for Pompano?
Thanks, Bobby Craven, Prospector46Prospector

Plus one for #4 Kale. It’s small enough to hook whiting and pomp’s, and I’ve caught some big fish on them too. Like enormous black and red drum, and stingrays. I’ve never had one straighten out, but I am a major user of drag and am really patient. Just buy a good quality high end maker. That means more than you’d think.
