They look good Bill I don't think the fish will look that close before bitting. I think the paint is a little more for the fisherman. I'm sure they will catch the heck out of fish.

Get your lead a little hotter Bill. See if that helps.

That was the first with the large ones , still doing the rest (1oz & less) without the fluid bed
Not doing many of the larger, kind of a special request
Thanks for the tipBill..............

Tying a few teasers to go with my crude imitation of the goofy jig.....they look better painted, and all sent down there for a trial run.....hoping for a catching report before my arrival in a few months

I see most people in Gulf Shores tying the jig and teaser on a 4-5" loop with hooks positioned away from each other. Last April when I went to Navarre with Ironman everyone over there fished the jig on the end of the line and the teaser on a very short dropper about 5-6" above the jig.

Some are rigged on the front of the jig itself (split ring)
These will be 6-8 in infront on the main line, might do a long large loop when attached to the jig and have it on the loop line so it is free floating in front of the jig
Learning myself, don't fish the skinny water too often, usually say hi to folks as I head for the end.....some kind of draw takes me that way
Just poured some more, the last were sent down for some testing hoping for a catching report , but she rarely fishes the skinny water.....maybe she'll shareBill..............

Yep, that split ring setup was the original Doc's Goofy Jig...
Then folks started modifying it with a short loop knot...
Then the loop got longer and folkes in south FL started calling the longer loop variation a "Silly Willy"
Either way, the key is the brightly colored 'banana jig' (1/2 to 3/4 oz) and the 'kicker' is the fly.
Keeping it on a fairly short shanked hook seems to be the norm...Last edited by Pier#r; 06-20-2019 at 03:06 PM.
