If your planning a trip, wait and go to J&M tackle. .....they will have what you need,at a very fair price,in a custom type rod
If the one you mentioned said cobia......it might be a little too stiff for the bait mentioned

Be sure to get something with a light tip (fast action). Much easier on the bait minnows you'll be flinging.
People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.

If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

Oh, yes. Go to J&M and they will set you up with what you need. I have six different king rods, all from J&M, in different actions for different situations. Ask for John G. He's the boss man and the owner.

He is the king fishing master......along with a few others on the pier......but they don't own a tackle store, and one of the best rod builders around

As noted before, go to J&M. He has custom pier rods on the rack that I believe run $180 and would be exactly what you are looking for. They are great rods.
